Climbing Against Cancer

A familiar face of the Sheffield climbing community John Ellison is the guy behind the CAC T-shirts you may have seen appearing on climbers around you, or maybe you're a proud wearer of one already!

Whilst thinking about the possibilities of ‘Climbers Against Cancer’ as an idea I remembered the saying ‘strength in numbers’ and how the world of climbing as a family has so much power to deliver a message across the globe. If, as a group of friends, we come together and support ‘CAC’ it can help others in the future by raising awareness and funds to further research into finally finding a cure for cancer! Being open about my own predicament has helped others feel more comfortable in discussing this disease and whether talking to adults or children I have seen a huge change in attitude.

Top climbers from around the world have already offered their support to the campaign by wearing the Climbers Against Cancer clothing and by following their lead and purchasing a T-shirt from the website shop you will all be contributing to the fight against cancer. All proceeds from sales or donations will go towards International Cancer Research Charities from around the World."

The Climbers Against Cancer website is currently under construction so be sure to keep an eye on, meanwhile why not go and like their Facebook page? Or if you're feeling all christmassy and generous go to John's page on justgiving.com to make a donation.

Comping Round the World

It's about time we write something about our Belgian Core Crushers, Loic and Chloe who have been living the international jet setting comp dream.

New Core Sponsored Hero: Tom Bolger

Last weekend Tom paid us a visit during his recent trip back to the UK and we had a nice chat with him about a possible sponsorship that we are now very proud and happy to announce!

Hmmm, just how did we get stuck here with this miserable weather slaving away in our factory over the weekend, one can't help but wonder! Life just isn't fair, why can't all go around crushing 9a's in the sun as if it's no big deal eh?!
The answer to that of course isn't simple and lots of things come into play such as talent, the willingness to work hard and opportunities coming your way.
Tom says his greatest strength in climbing is probably determination and we can see how this must indeed be a very important key to success. Guess the bottom line is that if you really are determined enough to make something happen, chances are that you will succeed. Be it climbing at boundary pushing grades or making the world's best climbing holds! ;)
